ControlAmp 1.4 - Move from loose with Winamp I confess a perfect music lover. I could not work half an hour in the office without listening to music. Sometimes my room mates or prefer to write by GChat llamamrme msn before (and are next to me) because usually I have my head stuck in a semi-professional headphones SENNHEISER excellent that I inherited, I give all the power and sound quality you need, besides completely isolate the outside world.
I've tried a lot of audio players for my PC (Until I can buy my own Mac, of course): In Windows Media Player
or I will not comment in
iTunes could say it's over to Eye Candy my taste, considering that all I need is a pod that sounds good, let me handle my mp3 lists, taking random function ... and not eat half a RAM sharing things on the net or worse, that is able to get me to install Safari, Quicktime, medium OSX, etc, etc, etc on my machine when all I really want to listen to music.
So all that I have it with Winamp
. That and more. It is a lightweight player, whose interface I do not fill the screen (depending on the skin, I use one that closely resembles the skin of winamp normalito and behaves as a thin horizontal bar attached to the top of my second monitor), has multiple skins (and had spoken to some of that, it is best for the skin that I use a lot less ram use the iTunes, because for the Mac repro need to download a plugin that you allows the use of skins). And best of all, using hotkeys that allow you to move through your songs without having to use the mouse.
But that eventually comes to be tired, because you have to give ALT + TAB until you come to winamp to use hotkeys. With winamp global hotkeys a little problem there, is that as I have the player stuck in a tiny bar on the right monitor I have to turn his face to see what song is playing if you want to do, and if winamp just does not raise any notificacióm that allows you to know that song are played in addition to what is in the playlist. So
between
reviewing winamp plugins got the perfect solution for a lazy like me.
called ControlAmp .
This plugin allows you to basically setear global hotkeys for a small list of features of Winamp (personally I just need to forward, back and Play / Pause) plus get up a balloon notification (yes, that ugly yellow like telling you you have to update Windows) below the tray on the taskbar, which lets me know which song I will listen without having to move the head to either side of the desk. All for a few fleeting 7 megs of RAM usage. More
could be simpler. Definitely as I needed.
diehard Linux users to my friends (I prefer to use Linux, but my job requires me to use windows, or failing that - some day - a Mac) I can tell you never spend years using XMMS
well weighted, which I think is almost the same as Winamp, but still has a few gaps for me is vital, for example, I could not play files shared on the network by dragging and dropping XMMS Playlist (We tried for years in the robotics lab and never will we.)
Anyway, if you are as lazy as I am music lovers and download your plugin and follow walrus.
